easy hike for a cloudy day?

We're having a family reunion and staying at Nehalem Bay campground. I would love some suggestions for some easy hikes since we'll have all ages from 3-65 in the area. It's supposed to be cloudy and cooler so it would be nice to have some alternative activities other than hanging out at the beach. We're willing to drive 30 min to the North or South. I would also like to know if bringing our bikes is worth it? Often we'll bring bikes, but find there's really no where to ride them safely. Other activity suggestions would be great as well. Thanks!

No need to drive 30 minutes! 10 minutes north of Manzanita is Oswald West State Park. Contained within are approximately 2 miles of walking paths and 15 miles of hiking trails; a little something for everyone.

The walking paths, which lead from hwy 101 to Short Sands Beach, are partially paved, all hard surface and on a shallow grade, making them easy for nearly anyone. Both of the main paths follow streams (Short Sands Creek and Necarney Creek) to their confluence and then on to the ocean. Along the way you will pass by HUGE old-growth conifers, beautiful old fallen snags and lush vegetation.

Those that might enjoy a little light hiking could take the fairly easy 3 mile trail from near the beach to Cape Falcon on the north edge of the beach cove and if there is someone up for a bit of a challenge, a hike to the top of 1630ft Neah-Kah-Nie Mountain will reward you with unsurpassed south and western views.

Forgot to mention, Nehalem Bay has a 1 mile bike trail. It's a nice enough jaunt, but nothing special. Riding a bike into Manzanita could be a bit sketchy as the road is pretty narrow and there is NO bike lane until you actually get into Manzanita.

Sounds wonderful, we will definitely take the hike to the beach. Where's the trail head for the three mile hike? How long does it take to the top of Neah-Kah-Nie? Is it a pretty steep climb?

The trail to Cape Falcon can be accessed from the parking lot furthest to the north and west (there are 4 parking lots, total), OR from the top of the ledge just before you drop down on the trail that leads to Short Sands Beach.

You can access NKN Mt trail from two points; north or south. I'd suggest taking the south access as the views are much better. The trail is not all that difficult. It's ~3 miles to the top and the trail has multipule switchbacks on both sides of the summit.

Cape Falcon and NKN Mt trails are part of the Oregon Coast Trail which stretches from the Columbia River to the California Border. All the major access points are well marked if you know what to look for. Here's some information that might help:
