Lodging in/near Newport OR

Anyone recently stay in Newport OR or the vicinity? We are looking for reasonable rates, clean nonsmoking 2 bedroom for Sunday in Feb...by that time we will be 2 tired quilting ladies :)

Hi Ellie, here is a list I put together of less expensive lodging in Newport:

Newport economy lodging – prices $50 to $120 approx.

The Whaler - http://www.whalernewport.com/rates_specials/

Waves of Newport - http://www.wavesofnewport.com/

Vikings - http://www.vikingsoregoncoast.com/

Newport City Center - www.newportcitycentermotel.com/default.html

Willers - http://www.willersmotel.net/

Comfort Inn - www.comfortinn.com/hotel-newport-oregon-OR171

Newport Bay - http://www.newportbaymotel.com/

Money Saver - http://www.newportoregonmotel.com/

Park Motel - http://www.newportparkmotel.com/

America Inn and Suite - http://www.americainnandsuites.com/

Econolodge - http://econolodge.com

The first three are ocean front or good ocean view; next three have ocean views or peeks from a few blocks away; last five no ocean views. Last five plus Willers and Newport City Center are on or just off of Hwy 101. Park Motel and America Inns are the oldest.

Not sure which ones have two bedroom units.

Since I live here, I have only stayed in one, that was Newport City Center Motel in 2003 or 2004. At that time it was very nice, much nicer than the price would indicate, with fridge and micro.

I confess I have no idea when the quilting "celebration" is (even though I know the owner of Quilters Cove) . . . it does not coincide with the Seafood and Wine Festival does it? The town is an absolute madhouse that weekend, Feb 20-22!

In addition to half-Brit's list, I would add the Best Western Agate Beach Inn (old Hilton) on the north end of Newport. Not exactly oceanfront, but it is oceanview and easy access to the beach. I stayed there for three days in '05 and it was $110/night and well worth it IMO.

i stayed there years ago while the hotel was still under construction --- we were the first people to rent that particular room -- we wrote out intials and date on the underside of the table to commerate the event

LOL No the quilt run ends Feb 16Th. I have been to the seafood & wine festival in Newport. In fact while we were there someone pulled up a giant squid onto the dock!!Thanks for all the lodging info...and how nice of you to add the web sites! We will look into those. I did look at the Whaler & it seemed nice, clean & reasonable.. Ellie

We have stayed in Newport a lot and for many years. Our family home in Toledo and I kept it after my mother died. until just recently. Recent years when i had house fixing to do stayed at the EconoLodge. If you get a top floor room in right place you can see the ocean of a ways.

Recently started staying at Waves of Newport since they are pooch friendly. There too you need to ask for ocean view, which is right there, but first floor can have ocean view blocked by buildings or top of cliff. They have a nice breakfast.

Also stayed at Valu Inn a few times, It may the quietest of the three. Though none are bad.
