what to do

Am an artsy person and will be in Lincoln city the last week of august and looking for places that are a good value and yummy to eat. We also would like to know the best place around there for tide pools. Other activities would be great also.. Also can you really find agates at agate beach?

Go to Dory's Cove at the end of Roads End. The best clam chowder in IMO seafood in Lincoln City.

"..can you really find agates at agate beach?" You could 45 years ago, but don't count on it today.

Best breakfast in that area IMO is at the Otis Cafe. It was even written up in the New York Times once. Otis is 6 miles from Lincoln city on hwy 18.

We used to live in Nye Beach, and personally found most of our agates on the beach at the Nye Beach turnaround. Look in the dry sandy areas where the cliffs meet the beach, as well as down by the water. Just watch out for the scarey druggies that live on the beach! They tend to sleep in the little nooks and crannies near the cliff.

Hi,

Well, I'd recommend Mo's on the siletz bay, it's at the end of Lincoln City as you're heading toward depoe bay. It's casual family dining but the food is good and the prices are reasonable, example oyster sandwhich and a cup of chowder (or side shrimp salad your choice) runs approx 8-10.00 It's got a great view of the Bay as well.

Another great restaurant, is in Depoe Bay, which is just up the road 10-15 minutes. It's called Tidal Raves, it's a little pricier but the lunch menu runs 10-15 dollars depending on what you order. Actually you could go there and order the seahawk bread appetizer--it's filling enough to make a meal out of (it's bagette with cream cheese, salmon, shrimp, and havarti cheese)! The view there is fabulous as well.

A great breakfast place that's reasonable is the Beach Pancake House it's on the main hwy going through town.

There are also numerous little places you get snacks like hotdogs and such at, like the snack shack at the outlet mall.

Tide pools, well if you walk down from Mo's, quite aways actually, you'll end up in front of The Inn at Spanish Head which is a motel. But in that area are large rocks in the surf, and have great tidepools. Another tidepool area is down 15th street in Lincoln City. It's a drive down area and there are some great rocks with tidepools there too.

I hope that info helped!

The Oregon Coast Aquarium is great in Newport. A definite must-see while in the area. Cheers! :)
