Razor Clam Digging

We are spending 2 nights in Newport at Nye Beach. Is there any good clamming nearby?

Wow, that is too bad that all these messages were deleted:(

Many things are against the guidelines, yet remain, such as multiple screen names:(

Back to topic at hand, I am not a clam person, so don't know what kind people were going after, but we have seen many people clamming right in front of Hatfield Science Center, and with great success.

So, DaBride, after all the initial discussion back in April, did you have the chance to get any clams? Razor clams at the beach and/or bay clams out of Yaquina Bay?

I don't disagree, oregonpoppa, particularly since some new posters (as well as some more "seasoned") may not be aware of the posting guidelines concerning advertising, harrassment, and so on.

No, we didn't even try!! Still want to go clam digging though. We have another trip to the beach in March to Rockaway. I think there might be better clamming there.

No razor clamming at Rockaway Beach. There is a small population south by Barview. Ocean conditions and clamming pressure will dictate success. There is VERY GOOD bay clam digging on Nehalem Bay just north of Rockaways Beach. You could check with Kelly's Marina. Tillamook Bay at Garibaldi also has good clamming.

Other than that, drive 45 minutes north to the Seaside area! From there north is where about 90% of Oregon's razor clams reside!!
