thanks for your help in planning the trip of a lifetime!!

Hi all,

We just got home from a two-week trip (one week in Washington and one week in Oregon), and thank you to all that contributed your tips and insights. My wife and I, along with our two-year-old daughter, and our six-year-old son had the absolute times of our lives. Without going into an hour long synopsis, I will give you brief highlights of our itinerary. I will also post reviews for each attraction individually in the coming days.

day 1: Arrived in Seattle from Minneapolis/St Paul

day 2: Mt St Helens (drove from Seattle to Portland). Visited Johnston Ridge Observatory.

day 3: International Rose Test Garden and Oregon Zoo.

day 4: Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI). Kids enjoyed cardboard rocket in the planetarium and also caught the BodyWorlds 3 exhibit.

day 5: Columbia River Gorge and Bonneville Fish Hatchery. Highlights included Latourell Falls, Briday Veil Falls, Wahkeena Falls, Multnomah Falls, and Horsetail Falls.

day 6: Sea Lion Caves. (drove from Portland to Eugene, then to Florence, and then to Newport)

day 7: Oregon Coast Aquarium and Indian Beach at Ecola State Park (drove from Newport to Astoria).

day 8: Astoria Column, Columbia River Maritime Museum, the Goonies House, and watched the sea lions on the East Mooring dock.

day 9: Seattle Ducks (drove from Astoria to Seattle).

day 10: Science Fiction Museum and Hall of Fame, Experience Music Project, and Pacific Science Center. Also caught the Minnesota Twins at Safeco Field.

day 11: hopped on ferry and made our way to Port Angeles.

day 12: Olympic National Park. Stopped at Hurricane Ridge, Hoh Rainforest, and Rialto Beach.

day 13: hopped on two ferries and made our way to Friday Harbor.

day 14: Whale Museum and Whale Safari with San Juan Safaris (yes, we seen the orcas!!)

day 15: hopped on ferry and made our way back to Seattle. Stopped at Pike Place Market.

Glad you had such a great time. My boys love getting a donut at Safeway and going to the East Mooring docks to watch the sea lions.
