cheapish hotel: Portland Inn vs. Holiday Inn Express?

Hi,

We are looking for a hotel with easy public transportation/ walking access to downtown, northeast, and other cool areas.

The Kennedy School and Ace looked great but are booked up, any advice on the Portland Inn vs. Holiday Inn Express downtown, or recommendations for another good place around $100 a night?

Thanks!

Its not downtown, but...

Doubletree at Lloyd Center may have a room around $100 per night. It is about a mile from d/t and on the maxline within Fareless Square. That means you can ride free from hotel to d/t. We usually stay in this area and ride the max to town, walk around, get on streetcar to riverplace and/or Nob Hill, etc. Then back on max to hotel to freshen up and back out for another round. Max runs every 7-8 minutes. This may not suit you but if you are interested you can check out hotel at Hilton.com

Also check out trimet.org That is Portland's public transportation system. It will give you a feel for getting to a lot places in the area. Portland's system has to be one of the best in the country, imho.
