Which Starwood property for July 4th weekend?

We're thinking of taking our boys (two 6 yr olds) to Porland & the coast for 3 days over 4th of july weekend.

We're starwood plat. so and looking at their good deals right now or possibly points.

Which starwood property is recommended in Portland?

The Nines, a new hotel and the Westin are Starwood properties.

They are both in good locations. The Nines is new and might have a deal of some sort.. although I don't know what you would want for the two little ones.. see which one appeals to you, they are both nice..

I assume you are just driving to the coast for a day trip? Every coastal town will be absolutely slammed with people that weekend :-(

ya, there are about 4 or 5 Starwood properties includeding the new aloft near the airport and old Sheraton.

Then Four points and westin, and The Nines.

I could stay at Four Points for 3K points per night (not too bad, but only a Cat 2).

I've also began looking at going to San Diego and taking our two 6 yr old boys to Sea World over the 4th instead.

so many decisions

My husband and I just stayed at the Nines for 4 days. It is a beautiful hotel, however, it is NOT suited for kids. They do not even have coffee pots in the room and the food very expensive. The rooms are luxurious but small and not much seating (one chair in a king room) for reading etc. There is no pool or anything else for kids. It is really a business hotel for business men and women. Our room only had a shower.

I may be off base, but I would never have thought The Nines would be a "kid friendly" hotel. I have to say, if I were staying at The Nines, with or without a pool, I would not want to have other peoples kids splashing about.

This just doesn't seem to be a "kid" place to me.

Yes, I think for a family with young'uns, the Westin would be more sensible a choice..
