2 days in Portland & Q about Oneonta Gorge

I'll be in Portland for 2 days only. This is currently on my schedule:

Day 1: rest Park Portland / Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden / Tom McCall Waterfront Park / Pioneer Courthouse Square / Pearl district

Day 2: Oneonta Gorge

However, is the Oneonta Gorge reachable via public transport? And if not, how would you otherwise recommend to fill my schedule for these days?

Hi There ti89

Day one looks great-

Oneonta Gorge is not accessible by public transit. I believe there are tours groups that do stop there. Not sure when you are coming, but Oneonta Gorge is only really wadeable between about July-August. There are other great hikes/sights in the Gorge, but again would need to get on a tour if you dont want to drive. You can alwasy visit Forest Park for a forested/hikiing experience within walking/public transportation in Portland. Hoyt Arboretum and/or Washington Park is another good public transportation option.

Why Oneonta Gorge? seems to me like a pretty minor sight in the Columbia River Gorge. Multnomah Falls has to be number one, but many others, and you can select a tour to see the highlights. I dout the tour would spend much if any time at Oneonta. .

Thanks both! :-) Are you aware of any tours from Portland? Or other options of transport to the Multnomah Falls (great suggestion Phirl!)

Here is a selection of sightseeing tours. I've not taken any personally, but from time to time other posters tell us they enjoyed them.

Unless you are up for renting a car for a drive to the Gorge, wine country or the coast you are best off staying int the Portland metro-area. You might like a visit to the Hawthrone District in Portland, or a hike up into Forest Park. I also love to spend time in Washington Park. Have fun!
