don't know if anything is going on in august but you can check
If you have a car, they would enjoy the Columbia Gorge. Lots of free there. Playing in waterfalls. Watching waterfalls, Bonneville Dam and Locks. Event Park and the windsurfers and kiteboarders. Just a drive and a picnic would be great for them.
what about the air/space museum and waterpark in mcminnville
Ooo the air space museum and Colombia Gorge sound great. Does anyone know the name of the museum? Yes we do have a car. Thanks.
There are museums and interpretive centers all over the Gorge.
I suggest you take I-84 to Bridal Veil and park in the Multnomah Falls lot. (the middle of the freeway lot gets full quick and I am more comfortable in the Multnomah Falls Lodge Parking Lot.)
Go into Multnomah Falls and visit the Visitor Information Center and the friendly volunteers will let you know what is available in the Gorge.
Be sure and stop at the Bonneville Dam and Locks. They have a 14' Sturgeon named Herman. (they are prehistoric fish) Entrance is free. but take some quarters as there is a fish hatchery and the kids can feed the fish.
It's the Evergreen aviation museum and water park (also has IMAX theater) just off Highway 18 on the southern edge of McMinnville. It's not really cheap, but definitely worth the cost of admission. The museum features Howard Hughes' notorious Spruce Goose as well a great collection of WWII fighter planes. Our daughter often takes our great-grandkids (ages 4 and 7) to the waterpark for a fun afternoon. Imagine a waterslide originating in a 747!Edited: 08 July 2012, 20:43
