One afternoon in Portland Sept 29

Is there a restaurant with outdoor seating on a river or body of water to have a drink and lunch. Doesn't matter what kind of food, just want to relax for a bit after a long flight. Thanks

There are restaurants on Tom McCall Waterfront Park which you can get to by taking the MAX train from the airport. Check TA recommendations for the restaurant of your choice.

Playing off what scappoose just said, I'd recommend the McCormick & Schmick's Harborside. They have a really excellent happy hour (discounted menu) every day (3-6pm) with lots of Northwest wines and beers by Full Sail. There's also a nice view of the Willamette River and the marina.

I have to agree with MSU, that is a great advice. Tiered seating so everyone in the house gets a good view. They name the fresh seafood on the menu and where it comes from;

I would definitely go with Salty's on the Columbia! They have a great patio right over the water with gorgeous views. Very nice menu with lots of options, friendly service and it is close to the airport. The Coconut Prawns here are really good and they also offer a nice wine list, including flights of different wines. Have fun! :)

Konda N, are you staying in Portland or continuing on elsewhere? The reason I ask is that if you are going elsewhere, Salty's might be perfect since it is on the Columbia River, away from downtown. You would not have to battle the traffic in and out of the main part of the city. The others are downtown Portland on the Willamette River, so if you're planning on staying downtown would probably make more sense.

We will be on our way south to the Salem area, where we are going to a couple wineries in the afternoon and staying in Salem. We should have about 2 hours to kill before we head south.
