Nice hotels in Pearl district

Am looking for a nice hotel and restaurant recommendations for the Pearl district for a trip later in August. Saw a review in Sunset but now can't locate it. Any hot tips or recommendations for a 1-2 day stay. We love gardens, hiking, shopping and great restaurants and would like to walk everywhere. Thanks!

Thanks for the tip. I did try searching and couldn't narrow it down to districts so I wanted to try the Forums.

You can walk or take a short streetcar ride from the Kimpton Monaco Hotel into the Pearl.

We used to stay there when we were visiting Portland then we ended up living in the Pearl and still recommend the Monaco.

The Pearl is not so huge as not to be able to take the streetcar or walk anywhere so you don't have to worry about limiting your hotel to where you want to eat/sightsee.

Have fun .. now that we are back in the US .. we are considering a visit back to Portland :)

Thank you oregonpoppa ! How kind you are.

Who knew , way back then, when we checked out of the Monaco and headed off to the airport, that it would be 6 + years before we talked about visiting Portland again !

Hello Quandmemes. I can't help you with your question, but I wanted to *welcome* you to the forums since this was overlooked. The TripAdvisor forums are the right place to come for advice. Most TA members are glad to help.

I believe charley48 was referring to using the Search function for the forums which can be found in the box above your original post, and not necessarily a Google search. It was unfortunately not pointed out in an appropriate manner for a DE. :-(

Portland's International Rose Test Garden is lovely. And the nearby peaceful Japanese Gardens are worth a visit also.

If you love hiking, be sure to visit the Columbia River Gorge. So beautiful, with many waterfalls to view.

Yes Scarlett, we have missed you. You were always a dependable response for those wanting to know about downtown, Bulldog and Jasone and others have filled in, but you were quite good.
