Hello! I'm hoping you'll be able to provide some feedback on this itinerary I've put together for early September. It's a lot of driving, but I can't imagine cutting anything out. I'm weirdly obsessed with going to Bend, and Crater Lake will never be easy to get to, so I figure we may as well squeeze it in. We love to eat and hike. Also, I love waterfalls--are they still flowing well in September?
Arrive in Portland.
Spend an afternoon and a full day sightseeing.
Day trip to Cannon Beach, maybe do a loop to include Tillamook?
Back to Portland.
Drive along Columbia River Gorge as far as Hood River.
Hike the Multnomah-Wahkeena Loop (if it's open--I saw June is the expected date? Waterfalls still active in September?)
Stay in Hood River.
Drive to Bend and explore the area. Suggestions?
Stay in Bend.
Spend the morning in Bend and then drive to Crater Lake in the afternoon.
Crater Lake--Garfield Peak trail, and something else?
Stay nearby--still need to research where.
Return to PDX and go home.
Thanks so much for your ideas/suggestions.
