4th of July Visit

Finalizing our trip to Portland during July 1-5th. Looking for a hotel/motel mainly to rest and grab a quick bite to eat before heading out for a day filled with adventures. So any suggestions would be welcome. Three adults (parents and adult child) traveling together, so will share a room. We don't have to stay in downtown, surrounding areas like Lake Oswego, Milwaukie, et al are options. Flying in and out of PDX

Our trip will of course be filled will travels to coast, Mt Hood, returning to hotel/motel each night.

Any suggestions on 4th of July must see/do? Fireworks, BBQ, parades, etc.

We are not foodies or wine connoisseurs, but enjoy an ice cold beer, pizza, Mexican food with a tasty margarita, ribs, you know more casual.

So any suggestions on any of the above would be welcome and we would be grateful for any advice. Thanks so much.

slcraw4d--Glad to help:) Here are a few of my personal favorites for hiking. On the way to the coast, Saddle Mountain. It is right off of why 26, about 13 miles east of 101. Great views of the coast! Then just east of Salem is Silver Falls, which is a 7 mile loop with 10 waterfalls. You walk under one big one, which of course is great on a warm day;) In the gorge I really like Dog Mountain and Triple Falls. Triple Falls is easy, Dog Mountain moderate. Your legs will feel it on Dog, but the views are oh so worth it! Going to Multnomah Falls is a must, but really it is a place that you can see for a few minutes and then be on your way. So just go early in the day and you will be fine, and ahead of the crowds. Too funny about the corn;) We have spent some time in Iowa and remember the amount of corn fields, lol!
