Tubing near Portland without a car?

We'd love to go tubing while visiting Portland but won't have access to a car... How can we (a) get tubes, and (b) get to and from a cool tubing spot without a car? Thanks!

You can get tubes at a lot of places. Fred Meyer, which is all over the place. Most sporting goods stores. Popina Swimwear has shops in Hollywood and downtown. (Call first to make sure they have them in stock). popinaswimwear.com/retro_suit_blog/…

For where to go, a lot of people like the Sandy River. It is wild and cold. And you should really wear a life jacket and carry a whistle. The rivers here are serious and people sometimes drown.

Maybe start here: …oregonlive.com/terryrichard/2010/08/sandy_r…

Kind of a cautionary tale: wweek.com/portland/article-5857-river_rats.h…

I don't know what you should do without a car. I'm thinking you could call one of the canoe/kayak rental places and see if they could help you out somehow or make a suggestion. Here are a couple in the area: www.mthoodadventure.com/summer/kayak-rentals or http://www.rivertrailstroutdale.com

For transportation, you could consider using this site. Not sure how I'd feel about the safety profile of putting myself in a stranger's car, but then that's what a taxi is, too, I guess. https://www.taskrabbit.com/portland
