Seaside or Cannon Beach

Usual haunt is The Tides in Seaside. Any other ideas for a quiet getaway from the Rat Race...

Pacific City, Neskowin, Oceanside, Gearhart, Cape Meares are all quieter beaches. Seaside and Cannon Beach are two of the most touristy on the Oregon Coast.

Neskowin is more secluded and quiet; Pacific City has more dining options. We like both of them.

Will add Manzanita. On central coast, Waldport and Yachats. Less busy the farther south you go, but how far do you want to drive?

Any other criteria, Michael S? Welcome to TripAdvisor :-)

For the north coast, I'll second Manzanita and Long Beach, WA. Both are sleepy, yet offer plenty to do if you chose. Both are also quite scenic though in very different ways.

Gearhart is quiet and very beautiful. Look at Gearhart Ocean Inn. :)

Seaside is too busy for me. Love Cannon Beach, but it is getting busier and pricier every year. Recently tried Long Beach Washington and loved it. Hotels are really nice, several good restaurants to choose from, prices are more reasonable, despite the addition of sales tax and the beach is stunning, vast and virtually empty and while not as "cute" as Cannon Beach, the town is charming. A 10 minute drive to Oysterville gets you all the cute you need in the buildings department.

Also in Washington is Seaview with The Shelburne Inn. The Depot is a very nice restaurant there. We had our Mother's Day dinner there after golf at Peninsula Golf Course. :).

The lodging in Seaside (at the Tides) will be cheaper than majority of places in Cannon Beach. However, it is very common for people to sleep in Seaside, but spend their day in Cannon Beach. If you want a quite, kind of off the beaten path, type of a beach town I recommend Gearhart. You can still visit your favorite places in Seaside and Cannon Beach but you can "settle in" in Gearhart.

We just spent the afternoon on the beach at Arch Cape. Ocean Point Inn looks really nice there. :)
