River float Sunriver area

My family will be visiting Sunriver this summer. We will be bringing our own tubes and would like to float the river. How do we do that without the marina charges? There will be some young children, is the river safe enough for them.? Thank you 😊

Yes you can bring your own tubes without being charged. The river there is very tame. We have canoed on it with small children and did not have any worries, FWIW.

We put in at the marina and then there is an obvious spot for take out. If you call the marina, I am sure they can give you details if you need. Have fun!

I looked on the marina site and they quoted $25 to launch. Other suggestions for launching would be helpful. That seems quite outrageous. Thanks

We launched from the bridge on Spring River Road and had easy access to the river.

You'll want to find a place to get out that isn't in a Sunriver neighborhood.

Hey if you find the answer to this please let me know - we are heading there this summer too and the marina charges are steep!

Thanks

The river where it passes by Sunriver is very tame.

It is free to start at the Harper Bridge on Spring River Road. It is free to get out at the canoe pickup spot a bit to the east of Sunriver.

I can't say how long a float trip is since we used inflatable kayaks.

There is a community rule about getting out in a Sunriver neighborhood. The folks there don't want a lot of traffic coming and going around their homes.

Any family want to pair up to float - leave a vehicle at each end? Between Aug 15-25
