Great fishing can be had all around the Erie area. Varies by time of year. With adequate boat you can fish Lake Erie for variety of coldwater, coolwater and warmwater species. Presque Isle Bay is a great place also particularly when main lake (Erie) is too rough for boats. Largemouth bass, northern pike, muskellunge, perch, etc can be found there. Probably as good a variety as anywhere in the state. Bowfin and gar exist there also. Good fishing from shore in addition to piers. Some tribs are stocked with adult trout. Most have lake-run steelhead and some coho salmon and occassional lake-run brown trout. Couple of ponds on Presque Isle are stocked with adult trout as well. Check out the web page the Pa Fish and Boat Commission has on the Internet. Loads of info there.

Can not say much about eats and shopping. But, do know about the fishing.

First off, nothing is too expensive in Erie. :)

Puffer Belly is an excellent restaurant - it's an old firehouse

Marketplace Grille is a good local spot as is Plymouth Tavern.

All of the shopping is up towards the interstate 90/79 merge. There's a mall and lots of separate shopping up there - and obviously lots of restaurants, though mostly chains. You'll find anything you need up there for clothes and shopping.

If you're more specific on types of restaurants, price ranges, and clothing types, I can be more help.

As already noted, fishing in Erie is great - hopefully you'll get great weather.
