I am a HS band director from western NY. My marching band is taking a trip to Washington this spring, April 27-29. On Friday, the 27th, we'll be traveling through PA on 15 south, toward DC. Looking for someplace in the Harrisburg area we could stop and perform a short standstill concert. Any ideas?? We were hoping to play at Chocolate World, but they won't allow it...(even though we were also going to purchase lunch there, and pay ten bucks for each student to make-their-own-candy-bar, not to mention the thousands of dollars that 80 kids and 10 adults would undoubtedly spend on souvenirs.......) Music will be memorized so we don't use stands and chairs, we'd play for only about 10-15 minutes, and we don't need changing facilities since we don't wear regular band uniforms for trip performances, but instead use matching band t-shirts (which they'll already have on). Our music theme this year is Super Heros- Batman, Spiderman, Superman....doesn't really mesh with playing on the steps of the US capitol and isn't reverent enough for the battlefield at Gettysburg. That's why we though Chocolate World would be so perfect, but it's not to be apparently. Any ideas??? We'd be in the area around lunch time-afternoon. Please help! Thanks!
