2 days @ Hershey

Hi All,

We (family with kids 5-15) are planning to visit Hershey area for 2 days for the first time.

One of the option is during April 10-12, and the are a few questions:

Is it good time, what is temperature there usually?

What attraction should or can we see during those days?

What inexpensive places to stay?

The average temps in april are high 50's low 60's.

I assume you are planning to go to Hershey Park.

Be sure to go to chocolate world to see how they make chocolate. The kids will love it and it smells so good. The street lamps in the town of Hershey are shaped like Hershey kisses. You will have a good time.

Another option, if you have time is to drive about 45 mins East and visit Amish Country. There are outlet stores.. and you can visit an Amish Farm and eat at a smorgasbord restaurant. It would make a fun day.

Check out this site.

Don't stay at The Spinners Inn (see my review on Trip Advisor). A neighbor told me that Simmons Motel was nice.

Hershey just opened a new museum on Chocolate Ave (that is the main street). You can google Hershey Museum for more info on that. Chocolate World is a must see.

Gettysburg is only an hour from Hershey. A new visitors center opened about 1 year ago. Lots to see in Gettysburg.

Amish County in Lancaster is also worth a trip as a previous post mentions. Lots of Amish shopping in and near Intercourse.

Have fun!

Hersheypark will be open for "Spring Time in the Park" that weekend. The price is $23.95 (cheaper at Giant Food Store). They will have more of the coasters open for this years event so your older kids would probably enjoy that. Plenty to see and do in this area.

How many children so we can help with lodging?

And what price range do you consider as inexpensive?

Here is the link for Hersheypark. You can then access Spring Time in the Park and then click on the hours and rides to see what's available:
