The Suites at Hershey

Hi:

Thinking about taking a 4-5 night stay at Suites at Hershey with the wife and kids (4,6,11).

Question: Do they offer any discounts at the Resort for discounts to the park? Perhaps after listening to a timeshare "presentation"?

Any other suggestions for our stay would also be appreciated. Planning to arrive on July 4. Is 4 nights enough, or should I go for 5?

I would call the Suites at Hershey and inquire about any resort discounts they may offer. If they do not offer any, Giant Food stores sell discounted tickets to Hersheypark. Adults are $41.95 (it's $52.95 at the gate), juniors are $29.95 ($31.95 at the gate). Once you purchase your tickets, you can enter the park 2 1/2 hours prior to closing the night before the day you plan to visit. If you plan to spend more than the night before preview time and one day at the park, it is best to purchase the two or three day flex plan from the park.

Here is a list of some other attractions in the area that may be of interest to you. How many of them you decide to do would determine whether 4 or 5 nights would be needed.

If you are looking for a break from the HersheyPark scene, there are two family mini golf centers in the area worth checking out – Adventure Sports (http://www.adventurehershey.com/) and Challenge Family Fun Center (http://www.challengefamilyfun.com/).

The Middletown &-Hummelstown Railroad (http://www.mhrailroad.com/) is a nice relaxing old-fashioned railroad trip. You can combine it with a visit to Indian Echo Caverns (http://www.indianechocaverns.com/).

Hershey attractions (http://www.hersheypa.com/) which include:

a. Hershey Park (http://www.hersheypark.com/index.php

b. Hershey Gardens (http://www.hersheygardens.org/)

c. The Hershey Story (http://www.hersheystory.org/)

d. Hershey Trolley Works (http://hersheytrolleyworks.com/)

e. Chocolate World (http://www.hersheys.com/chocolateworld/)

f. Milton Hershey School Founder’s Hall (mhs-pa.org/about/…)

g. Hershey Theatre (http://www.hersheytheatre.com/)

h. The Giant Center (Hershey) http://www.giantcenter.com/

The Antique Auto Museum near Hershey Park( http://www.aacamuseum.org/)

Enjoy your trip!

Thanks for the suggestions. I've noticed tickets for sale on Craigslist for a bit less. Do you think these sellers can be "trusted"??

I don't know what to tell you about Hersheypark tickets for sale on Craigslist. I guess I'd have to question where the sellers are getting the tickets from that they can sell them cheaper. I'd probably be reluctant to buy but that's just me.

We soent a timeshare-swap week at the Suites at Hershey last year. No one from the resort ever talked to us about a sales presentation of any kind -- not sure if they're "sold out", no longer have an on-site sales staff, or what the reason may be,... or maybe we were just the odd example of "the one that got away."

We did find the resort units very comfortable with a nice floor plan -- the two bedroom unit we were in had a bedroom (each with its own bath) on either side of a central kitchen-dining-living room area. Made it very convenient when folks wanted to get up or go to bed early.

Parking is the best we've found during any of our timeshare exchanges -- each of the three resort buildings has its own semi-below-ground garage. You park the car, grab a hotel-style luggage cart near the elevator, unload the car, take the elevator upstairs to your unit, return the luggage cart for the next user and you're done. Garage also makes it very convenient if it happens to be raining -- and offers nice shade for the vehicle on hot, sunny days.

We found the resort very convenient to Hershey Park and other Hershey attractions (would definitely recommend the trolley tour!), and there's a quick-and-easy shortcut to downtown Hershey if you're headed in that direction...just ask for directions at the resort front desk.

Mariner - is your timeshare thru Interval? We put in for an exchange for next summer, just wondering what the odds are that one will actually come thru?

Lisa -- Don;t want to get this post too far off-topic, but the short answer to your question is: Not II, RCI - and we visited in the "off season" and understand we were lucky to get in at that -- apparently Suites at Hershey is part of a BlueGreen Group that owns multiple timeshare properties and gives preference for exchanges to owners at other Blue-Green properties. You might want to post your inquiry in the "Timeshares" Forum (see upper right hand side of the Forums Home Page) to see what other II owners experiences have been.
