Hershey for New Years w/ wife and 10yr daughter..

Thinking about going to Hershey for New Years 2011 with my wife and 10 yoa daughter...we want to have a good family time, but dont just wan to be purely for kids and be bored. Any thoughts on this destination? Decent dinners, wine or cocktails available?

The Harrisburg-Hershey area has a lot to offer, it depends on your interests.

1. Christmas in Hershey will be going on through December 31 with a variety of activities. (http://www.christmasinhershey.com/)

2. There is the Whitaker Center, which has the Harsco Science Center (many hands-on exhibits) and an IMAX Theater (Harrisburg). (www.whitakercenter.org/science/index.asp).

3. The PA State Capitol has tours and there is the PA Museum with a variety of displays, both are in Harrisburg. (http://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/legis/home/toursWelcome.cfm and http://www.statemuseumpa.org/).

4. There is also a Civil War Museum in Harrisburg. (http://www.nationalcivilwarmuseum.org/).

5. Fort Hunter Park in Harrisburg has a Victorian-era mansion, restored barn, church, stable, and tavern house that illustrate life in the 1800s (http://www.forthunter.org/).

6. In nearby Boiling Springs is the Allenberry Resort & Playhouse, which is a quaint small restaurant/theater and resort along the Yellow Breaches Creek (http://www.allenberry.com/).

7. The Middletown &-Hummelstown Railroad (http://www.mhrailroad.com/) is a nice relaxing old-fashioned railroad trip. They also offer a Santa Train but it is earlier in December.
