Hershey Fireworks and Cabana Rental

We are traveling to Hershey/Lancaster and will arrive July 4. We are hoping to do our preview night at the park on July 4, but will crowds be an issue because of the fireworks that evening?

Also, we are thinking of renting a cabana for one of our two park days? Is it worth the cost?

I have never rented a cabana at HP, my understanding is they are very costly. To justify the cost, my thought is you would have to be spending the majority of the day in the water park and Boardwalk areas. If you arrive when the park opens and head directly to the water park area, you can usually get chairs in the open areas with no problem. Obviously the cabana offers you privacy and a few extras that may be important to you.

When I have gone to the HP fireworks, I usually go to one of several areas on the hill across from the park in the area of the Hotel Hershey/Milton Hershey School or out on route 39 around the cemetery or old location of Pumpkin World, so I'm not sure how the crowds are inside the park. Since it is the 4th of July weekend, the crowds will probably be worse on Saturday & Sunday than on Monday (that's usually the pattern).

Thank you or the information. This will be our first time in Hershey. We are staying in Lancaster. Any other must-sees in the area with two girls, 10 and 12?
