short stop over in Hershey-2 adults

We are planning a one afternoon/evening stop over in Hershey for two adults no interested in the park but wish to walk through the town and visit gift shops. Any suggestions on a hotel (around $100 - $120ish) within walking distance of most the shops/restaurants would be appreciated.

Hershey is a beautiful area; however, there is not much substance to the downtown. The Hershey Story (museum) and the Hershey Theater are the focal points of downtown in addition to several restaurants. There are no quaint shops in downtown. I would suggest a stop at Hershey's Chocolate World and taking the free Great American Chocolate Tour. I would also consider taking the Hershey Trolley Works tour, which departs from Chocolate World as this will give you a great overview of the area. If you have time you could also visit the Hershey Gardens.

As for lodging, during the summer months, the White Rose Motel might be a bit above the top end of your budget. Most of the chain hotels in Hershey will be at or over $200/night at this time of year. If you are willing to stay about 15 minutes outside of Hershey, you will have more lodging options in your price range.
