Status of Beach Road South out of San Juan Del Sur + Border

Hi All-

Can anybody provide an update on the paving of the beach road south out of San Juan Del Sur?When we were there 2.5 years ago it was partially done - to about the split to Remanso.

I know they have been working on bridges but have not heard anything about the road nor the status of the tourist border crossing.

Thanks!

Greetings ScubaDane: Yes, as likeeveryoneelse says, no further progress has been made. There was an official decision about one year ago to not build the coastal highway that had been talked about for year. Its a real shame as it would have driven economic development and make tourism so much easier between Costa Rica and Nicaragua.
