Amish Farm Tours

Hi,

My wife and I are stopping in Intercourse for 2 nights this July and we would like to see the true Amish countryside from one of the pony and trap rides. Has anyone been on one or can recommend one, pros and cons most welcome. Also what kind of prices are the quilts.

Regards,

Bill & Maureen

Bill & Maureen, there is a two-horse powered wagon located at Kitchen Kettle Village right in Intercourse. Two more buggy rides are offered in the village of Bird-in-Hand, a few miles west of Intercourse. We have never gone for a ride in one, so I can't offer any pro or con comments. The quilts are expensive. Depending on the size, they go from 200-300 USD for a 40 inch by 50 inch (to hang on the wall) to about 1000-3000 USD for on that will fit a bed. Remember, these are hand-made. FYI.... Lots of stores are closed on Sundays.

Lapp's Quilts and Crafts is located in the country by Ronks and they are very reasonable on everything. All of their quilted items( quilts, wallhangings, shams, table runners, etc. are hand quilted). When we were there they had over 50 quilts from which to choose. They are located at 206 North Star Rd. It is located in the basement of an Amish family which means they don't have a phone. Another plus is that they will ship your purchases, you would just have to pay for postage. Like a previous poster said they won't be open on Sunday.
