Amish Quilts

Hey everyone! I will be visiting Lancaster this weekend and I would like to know where I can buy an authentic Amish quilt. Also, does anyone know how much they generally run? I usually do not carry cash and I am assuming I will need to visit the ATM before I go to purchase one. Thanks for any responses!!

A reliable source for authentic Amish made quilts is Village Quilts in Intercourse (on Rt. 340). The manager is the author of a book called "Heirloom Quilt Designs for Today", and is one of the most knowledgeable sources in the area. She works with over 130 Amish and English quilters (both Amish and English). . .

Hand-sewn Amish quilts measuring about 95" x 120" should run somewhere around $900-$1200. Take a look at 800PaDutch.com and pick the quilts link on the left side column. It lists lots of stores in the area.

We found many beautiful quilts and a great assortment of other hand quilted items, wooden items, and canned foods at Lapp's Quilts and Crafts. At least 100 quilts were for sale. Their address is 206 North Star Rd Ronks. They are an Amish family and have the shop in the walk out basement of their home out in the country. Hours of operation are 7a.m.-7p.m. Mon-Sat. The queen size quilts were around 650.00-700.00.

I second Lapps. Very beautiful pieces, along with other items. Very friendly. There is also a farm catty corner from them to the right as you face the road that has a store out of their home. I was looking for an apron (as the quilts are out of my range) but wanted something authentic to what the Amish wear and they had some. Both stores had aprons that resembled quilt patterns with bold prints as well.
