Another Mud Sale question

Hi to all,

on April 4 will be a mud sale in Peach Bottom.

I will be in Bird-in-Hand during this time.

I have never been on a mud sale before. So maybe you can give me some detailed informations what to expect. Is it a kind of auction??

How long do you think will it take us from B-i-H to

Peach Bottom and how long should we calculate at the

sale?

Please help.

I thank you a lot.

Sounds like you should plan to bring your boots.

Allow at least an hour to get from Bird-in-Hand to Peach Bottom, park, and get to the sale. The quilts are up early -- 9 a.m. -- assuming that's your interest. (Can't imagine you'll want to bid on carriages or buggies at 11 and try getting them back to Germany!)

Have fun!

Quiltlover:

This can be your chance to listen in as the Amish converse in "PA Dutch"...I'm betting you will know most of what they're saying, at least more than if you lived in northern Deutchland.

These sales are absolute auctions, often with multiple auctioneers, and they move quickly. You could be at a disadvantage not knowing the current bid (I know I sometimes have trouble).

Peach bottom is in the southern end of the county, and not so good roads, so it is s long drive. I'd allow most of the day if you want to stay for the whole thing.

Hi and thanks to both of you.

the links are great to understand what a mud sale is all about.

And yes, we can understand PA Dutch very well as it is very much as our dialect spoken here in our area.

I would love to go to the mud sale but are not sure

if the drive would take to much time. I have planed a trip to the Quilt Museum and Central Market in Lancaster for that Saturday, too.

so maybe weather will help me decide....

Greetings,Q.

If you will be here by March 28th the Gap mud sale has one of the biggest & best quilt auctions...they even publish a program. Some good bargains.
