Saturday- Lancaster Central Farmers Market.

Monday or Saturday Cherry Hill orchards www.cherryhillorchards.com

Kaufmans' Fruit Farm www.kaufmansfuitfarm.com Monday or Saturday

Sunday- forget it unless you want to to to a supermarket.

You realize it is too early for any local fruit but strawberrys right now, right?

Skip Cherry Hill for strawberries! They wanted $5.50/quart, when, just a couple miles west on Rt 741, is the Corn Wagon selling fresh-picked strawberries for $3.50/quart. They also had asparagus, rhubarb and potatoes.

Iff you're in the northwestern part of the county the fruit stand at Masonic Village will never fail to provide local fruits. And local to them means within several miles. Local to some stands means as far as the Carolinas. Buyer Beware.

Yes, the Corn Wagon in New Danville is extremely popular due to their quality, bargain prices and friendly service. Mornings during corn season, there is always a mob of frugal folks waiting for the wagons to arrive, and then it's "every man for himself!"

However, note that their fruit offerings are usually pretty limited, especially once sweet corn season starts. (I agree that their prices are hard to beat)

Your best bet is to find a random road side stand! There are tons of them in the Ephrata, Akron, Reinholds, Denver areas. I agree with OP's about Sundays - you're not going to find anywhere open except super markets.

How about the Farmer's Market at Bird-in-Hand? They are open at this time of the year on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM.

The farmers market in Lititz on Saturdays. Great local produce in season and baked good. Pow!

Personally, I think the Bird-In-Hand Farmers Market is a tourist trap. OK for buying souvineers, crafts, etc., but for produce? Not much selection and tourist prices. JMO, of course.

Roots is my favorite for produce & baked goods but it's only open Tuesdays.

Great prices and variety, but not necessarily local food.

I think jfm03 is right: at roadside stands it's usually their own fresh picked (or made) stuff. No middlemen!
