Dining near Mount Airy

Will be taking my parents for a little gambling trip to Mount Airy casino next week and just wondering where to go and eat. We tried the diner there once and it was good, but looking for something out of the Casino this time. Any recommendations?

Both of my suggestions are a 15 minute drive:

"The Forks at Buckhill" is located in Mountainhome. Good food and service; nice ambiance.

Snydersville Diner is one of the cheapest places to eat, and the food is homemade, including homemade pie choices daily. It is located just off of route 33 going south, near the Snydersville exit. Portions are large, and you won't beat the price!

Frequented by area seniors.

We're going to be at Mount Airy Hotel in mid-September and would also like recommendations for nearby places to eat. We're hoping for something a little more upscale than home cooking -- though appreciate the recommendations above. Any other suggestions?

I've never been to Crescent Lodge, but I've been told it's great. The French Manor in S Sterling is wonderful!

We stayed at the Crescent Lodge in August, 2008 for a wedding at Skytop. The food at Skytop was terrible. At 11 PM the help left. We weren't even served coffee; you had to go into the hall and serve yourself. For a fancy-schamscy place, don't bother.

Just a thought, sorry, this post is about Crescent Lodge. We had a fun time because we were with friends. Don't stay at the main lodge. The cottages, especially with the four-poster beds and the big tubs and fireplaces are fun. It would be a great place for a Fall or Winter weekend...and could be very romantic too.

We had breakfast there and it was good. In the evening we saw people coming in for dinner, but didn't try it. The lights are turned low and there is a bar. The lobby is nice, but I thought it was too expensive for what it was. Overall, the place is a little old fashioned. It is one of the true Poconos quaint lodges that reminded me of when I was a kid and went to the Catskills with the family to Pine Lodge in Monticello. We saw that they had an outdoor pool. If you plan to go there, be sure to visit the Pretzel Factory.

I highly recommend Smuggler's Cove. It is about 10-15 minutes away from the casino. www.smugglerscove.net We've never had a bad meal or servive there. Nice atmosphere as well.

There are many different restaurants in this area. I am not sure what type of cuisine you are looking for, so here are a couple of suggestions.

This is on route 611. It is approximately 5 minutes north, on the left hand side.

This is also on route 611. It is approximately 10 minutes south, on the left hand side. It is directly across from Smugglers Cove.

If there is a particular type of cuisine you are interested in, let me know. I have lived in this area for 20 years. There are so many choices. The aboved mentioned are just a few. I have put a "watch this topic" on, in case you have any further questions.

Good Luck!!
