What to do? Where to shop? and where to eat?!

Hi,

We are couple who will be staying in Dingmans Ferry for two weeks while our son is going to Camp Speers Day Camp.

We would appreciate your advices on how to best spend our time. Just need your personal local knowledge on what to do? Where to shop? and where to eat?!

As “ancient” Egyptians we are not that fond of antiques!! We (actually my wife!) will be more vulnerable to major discount outlets shopping.

Green nature escapes, lakes, waterfalls and other “hidden and secluded” gems known only by locals would be a great treat for us.

As for dining, nothing fancy or European (we have those over here!). Real local dining options, good burgers, bagels, steaks, pizza.

Your favorite stuff will most probably be ours as well!

Thank you

Dingman's Ferry is in a nice central location for a different activities.

To the south -

For Outlet mall - Tannersville's The Crossings - www.premiumoutlets.com/outlets/outlet.asp…

Bushkill Falls - http://www.visitbushkillfalls.com/ - Waterfalls and hiking - It is a tourist site, meaning it is privately owned and you have to pay to enter.

Odd Lot Outlet on Rt 209 in Marshall's Creek is an interesting little stop (Say Hi to Linda [my mother-in-law] if you go.) http://www.oddlotoutlet.com/

For a uniquely American stop - Hot Dog Johnny's in Buttsville, NJ is great (Would work well if you go to the actual Delaware Water Gap) - hotdogjohnny.com/ - Best hot dogs in the US along with birch beer in frozen mugs.

To the north -

Milford and Port Jervis are nice little towns to spend the day wondering and relaxing.

In Port Jervis there is a spot you can stand in PA, NJ, and NY at the same time - http://www.roadsideamerica.com/tip/21765

In Milford is the bloody bunting used to prop up President Lincoln's head after he was shot - http://www.roadsideamerica.com/tip/15336

You are also right in the middle of The Delaware Water Gap which has over 100 miles of hiking including a section of the Appalachian Trail - www.nps.gov/dewa/planyourvisit/trails.htm

You can also look into rafting on the Delaware river via raft, canoe or inner-tube. Very easy moving river..

Can't really help you on food as when we are up there we stay with relatives, but hope this helps some.

Hi Dmoz74,

Thank you for your feedback. I happened to post the same question on Milford's forum and the Crossings Outlet Mall, beautiful hiking trails and waterfalls as the main attractions in the region.

I guess it is time to set down and plan a daily travel itinerary to cover as much as we can!

Thank you,

Ashraf

P.s. Give a head start to Linda that if she meets a couple with a strange accent saying hi, that will be us!
