Gelato?

Hi everyone,

I will be taking a business trip to Pittsburgh (possibly overnight) and was wondering if there are any places that have gelato? I'm a huge gelato fan, and when I travel for work, I like to try to find some. Don't know yet what area of Pittsburgh I will be in, so suggestions with location info would be great. Thanks in advance.

Rita's is a chain with great gelatos. They have a few locations around Pittsburgh. Go to RitasIce.com for locations.

What time of year are you coming? I don't know if the Rita's are open all year round or not.

The trip will either be February or March, not sure yet.

Rita's doesn't have real gelato, it is more like soft icecream. Most locations open mid March.

I googled Pittsburgh/gelato and came across this discussion which mentions several gelato places, none of which I have any personal experience with. This is several months old too, so I hope someone has more recent info.

I am glad some one said that Rita's don't have real gelato.

I have become a great fan of gelato afterliving weeks in Italy. I basically lived on gelato in the hot months in Italy.

There are very few places in the burgh that have Gelato.

\There is a place in squirelhill opposite to starbucks.

The best place I like is the Roma Cafe in the pittsburgh Mills mall.

Thanks everyone, I'm looking forward to the gelato, and will post an update when I get back. It looks like the trip will be Feb 16, but it will be a quick one. Hopefully I'll have time to grab some gelato before the meeting.
