Hotel near Heinz field and fun with no car

Buddy and I coming in December for the Steelers Thursday night game. Looking for reasonable (is $100 a night reasonable there?) place to stay near the stadium. We have never been there and decided to stay Friday night as well. We will have no transportation and would like to be somewhere around the stadium that also has some bars/fun things to do. Any help appreciated.

If I had to guess, all the hotels within distance will be 150 and above. There is plenty to do within walking distance of the stadium.

Good luck with your budget; for a weekday you're probably looking at $200 a night and up. Friday might be lower. What I would do is make a reservation for something now that you can cancel later on, and then try Priceline bidding as it gets closer.

The new Cambria Suites would be a good choice. It is a mile from the stadium and the rates are $199 for Thursday night and $179 for Friday night.

If you guys like any type of casino gambling, Rivers Casino is just west of Heinz Field (walkable from there) and has slots and table games, including poker, along with several bars and good restaurants.

Most downtown hotels run shuttles to the stadium and may offer better rates than the hotels near the stadium unless you book now. There are bars and restaurants near the stadium.

My advice is to go thru Priceline or Hotwire, I just bid $120. and WON a 3 1/2*

Downtown Pittsburgh for wed & Thursday night for the steeler game. I got the Marriott City Center which is going for $309. A night. Last year for a weekend game, I bid $110 and got the Westin. You have to do your homework on zones but there are some great deals out there. Good luck.

Just did visit Pittsburgh and travelled around by hop on hop off, do not know about December? Heinz Historic center and Andy Warhol Museum both worth a visit.

Yah definitely priceline it. Me and my buddy are in same boat, but for a different game (Oct 16th). All the hotels on Sat night were sold out or over $300/night. I did a priceline at first for $130 for 3.5 stars downtown and it was turned down, but they let me up try again at $154 and got the Wyndham just across the river from stadium. Wyndham's online price was $319 a night.
