: : : North Shore Hotels (across the Allegheny River from downtown Pittsburgh)

Downtown Pittsburgh is compact. The downtown hotels are within walking distance of the Megabus stop, assuming you don't have much in the way of luggage. The uptown and North Shore hotels are a bit further out; the Sheraton Station Square Hotel is two or three subway stops from downtown. All of the hotels are within walking distance of shopping and dining out.

There isn't a whole lot of shopping to be done in downtown Pittsburgh, I would say it is a center for upscale, conservative clothing but not a hotbed for anything else I can think of. One big department store left downtown, Macy's. One good thing is that PA does not charge sales tax on clothes, so that is a draw for a lot of people.

What kind of shopping are you interested in?

Lots of good places to eat downtown though, plus theatres, etc.

Megabus drops you off right downtown, but if another neighborhood would be better for you it would not be hard to get yourself there.
