Brunch on Graduation day?

Pitt Graduation is Sunday April 27. Where can we eat brunch starting at 10 am so we can get to the Peterson Center by noon? We will be six, mostly vegetarians.

Not sure of any brunches in Oakland, but you could always try Pamela's. They are pretty popular in Pittsburgh (even the first lady ate there).

thank you. we think our daughter was hoping for something more elegant, but it does look appealing to me. Has anyone been in Pittsburgh on the morning of graduation -- do the restaurants start serving any earlier than 10 or 11 that morning? Or is the graduation crowd not overwhelming to the Pitt community?

Congratulations! Although they are "hotel restaurants" we have had celebration brunches at both Habitat in the Fairmont Hotel and The Terrace Room in the William Penn. They may not be serving brunch that early, but will be serving breakfast. Both are downtown with Habitat being more contemporary and The Terrace Room historical. If you wanted to stay in Oakland, the Holiday Inn is now a Wyndham and has a nice restaurant . Also, opentable.com might be useful for your reservation.

I think the Grand Concourse still has Sunday brunch. It's not cheap but is in a fabulous setting. You can easily reach it by taking the bus from Oakland to Steel Center (a 10 min. ride) and then catch the "T" (trolley) to the "station square" stop (just across the river). This whole trip should not take more than 20-30 min., even if there is a wait for the trolley.

thank you to those who replied with good suggestions. We have decided not to try for brunch before graduation, rather just have breakfast at the chain hotel where we are staying so that we can get to the Petersen center in plenty of time. what i did not know is that we are also hosting a family with whom our daughter has grown close. So there will be more of us and we will go out Saturday night. We will probably look into these suggestions and make reservations this weekend. Thanks for your help!
