Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs

Can anyone tell me what types of slots are available at this casino? We're thinking of making a day trip out from Williamsport in the next couple of weeks but there is so little info about this casino available on the internet!

We mostly like video poker - especially the WSOP slots. And most other video slots with bonus rounds for that matter... We usually play quarter slots.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

There are video poker machines at the Mohegan Sun, but they are limited. Most are in the smoking section and they DO take quarters. On the non-smoking floor, most of the video poker machines are located if you are seated at the bar.. I've been there 3 times and had no problem getting on a poker machine in the smoking section. The employees are very friendly, there are shuttle buses to the front of the casino, but the food court is very limited (basically pizza, salads, and baked goods). If you decide to leave early, the Wyoming Valley Shopping Mall is only 2 miles away. Good luck.

Thank you for responding... I was beginning to think I'd never get a response because the Wilkes-Barre forum seems to go for long periods of time without being used.

We're from Williamsport and have been out to Wilkes-Barre MANY times shopping, so we're fairly familiar with the area. We stop there a lot on our way home from Atlantic City alot actually...

I read a couple of reviews of MS at Pocono Downs and they were both kind of negative. They stated that there were too few slot machines for the number of players and that you often had to wait to get on a machine. The most recent of those reviews was written in May of 2007. Would you happen to know if that is still the case?

We had a trip planned to AC but decided to give PA a try - it is a lot closer, obviously! We'll probably go no matter what so we can make our own decision about it, but it's nice to know what we're getting ourselves into.

Thanks again for your response.

Elaine:

I never had a problem getting on the quarter slot machines and usually stick with the poker machines or wheel of fortune. Again, as a non-smoker, I usually end up on the smoking floor (downstairs), as the non-smoking floor (the one you enter on) seems to be more crowded. You should also be aware that I have always played on week-days (usually between noon and 5 p.m.) as I am sure it gets more crowded on the week-ends. One thing that is negatively discussed is that there don't seem to be many 'big winners'. Even their promotional material has the highest slot winner as winning 15 Grand.

I will be going to the "Sun" this Monday and this site came up when I 'googled' restaurants in Wilkes-Barre as I will probably go to the casino for a couple of hours and then look for a nice restaurant in the area. Good luck....hope you win big.

Elaine. We go quite often but we go early in the morning because it starts to get crowded after 11:00am.It is a very nice Casino for a temporary place. They have 1100 Slots and there is a good variety. We play penny/nickel.Upstairs is non-smoking,down is smoking. The new big Casino at Mohegan is scheduled to open next summer.Easy to get to from Williamsport.
