traveling to woodward area, ideas for area exploration

I am taking my daughter to camp in woodward 2nd week in July. WIll be visiting local colleges in area with my son. I am not familiar with the area at all looking for sites, ideas or points of interest in the area. We will be there a week so traveling about is an option.

Thanks

Deb

There is not a lot in the immediate vicinity of Woodward. We've traveled past the area occasionally going between Lewisburg and State College. It's very quiet and lovely with Amish farms to the east toward Mifflinburg.

Some places to try if you're looking for some more activities:

State College (lots to do, obviously, with Penn State in town)

Lewisburg (good for an afternoon. Perhaps Bucknell is on your son's list?)

Harrisburg/Hershey (2 hours)

Gettysburg (2.5 hours--and do try to get a campus tour, as the grounds are lovely and historic)

Baltimore (3 hours)

Washington DC (4 hours)

Hope this helps!

If coming from Boston, probably looking for things to do from North, not south of WW. It is a fairly remote area (not much to do if you don't camp.) Bethlehem, PA is a very cute town to visit.

not sure if the ski resorts in area have summer activities and you can check those websites yourself. what schools are you looking ? M;y son recently graduated from Muhlenberg if that is one

with a week, gettysburg is great place to visit.

do you want to day trip from one place or looking to move around?

maybe some folks who have stayed in Poconos can give some info.
