Rhett House or Beaufort Inn?

I'm hoping that those of you who know these two places can compare and contrast. Thanks!

They are both great, but very different from each other. Both are well located in the downtown.

The Rhett House Inn is in one antebellum mansion and a smaller hsitorical home up the street. Large verandahs and small outdoor garden. Very gracious and spacious. In the days when lots of movies were made in Beaufort, many of the stars stayed here.

The Beaufort Inn is a newer structure--only about 100 years old. Smaller verandahs, bigger garden areas. The rooms in the main building are generally not large, but the owner has bought a number of historic cottages in the immediately surrounding area. They are extremely pleasant.

Both are owned locally, so the management is good.

The Rhett House tends to have more expensive accommodations than the Beaufort Inn. You really can't go wrong with either establishment. One thing to note is that neither B&B is directly on the water - if that is a prerequisite, you may want to consider the Cuthbert House Inn.

One other B&B that I like in town is the Old Point Inn. All are within an easy 5 minute walk of Bay Street and the Waterfront Park.
