Route around Chaleston

Hi,

My family (2 kids - 2.5 and 6) and my in-laws are planning a trip to Charleston area around Chrismas or the new year. If you've had a week in the area, how many days would you devote for the city itself and what attraction is it worth seeing at that time of the year if we'll drive out of Charleston?

Thanks

You can easily fill a week in Charleston and the surrounding area. With your little ones, we can only assume you will be sightseeing at a slower pace than adults on their own.

The Christmas Lights at James Island Park should be high on your list for the little ones, we'll probably make it by there twice in the 2 weeks we're going to be in town over the holidays.

You can take a drive to the beach (you might want to consider staying at one of the surrounding beaches... Folly, Sullivans Island & Isle of Palms are all within 1/2 hr., Kiawah & Seabrook are about 45 mins.) It's easy to take day trips into the City.

There's an aquarium in town, there are harbor cruises, boats to Ft. Sumter, plantations (Middleton is best for kids), tons of restaurants, shopping (might not want that one w/kids), the Market, get the idea, plenty to do.

Visit this site for tons more info...

We've been going several times a year for 20+ years and there's never enough time.

Have fun!
