handicapped accessibility

6 of us will be visiting Charleston the week of Feb 19. 2 of the 6 are in wheelchairs. What advice do you have for things to do, and things to avoid? Are there any handicapped buses available for tours?

There are several bus tours, but I am not sure which are best equipped to handle wheelchairs. Here's a link to the bus tour listing on the Visitors Center website... http://www.charlestoncvb.com/visitors/tripplanner/what_to_see_do~3/tours~32/motorized~54/.

You might want to contact the visitors center to see what kind of info they have on accessibility. They could probably tell you which bus tour.

I know that the Old Exhange & Provost Dungeon are accessible. The last 2 paragraphs of this page discuss it.... http://www.charlestoncvb.com/visitors/tripplanner/what_to_see_do~3/tours~32/motorized~54/.

The SC Aquarium is also accessible... http://scaquarium.org/default.aspx.

If you're interested in a harbor tour, the Spirit of Charleston is handicap accessible... spiritlinecruises.com/harbor_fleet_overview.…

I sent you a private message with some research I've done based on tips from other wheelchair travelers.

The lady from Grayline emailed me back and said they do have a bus that accommodates wheelchairs but it's not operating right now.

Maybe if you call them directly they can make recommendations for you.

Thank you to everyone for your help! I am so impressed. I use Trip Advisor all the time to plan trips, but I've never posted a question like this. I never expected so many people to go out of their way to help. This is wonderful! I have copied down a lot of the information, and will do more research using what you have given me. Thank you again everyone! This is a great site!
