Restaurants close to Lodge Alley Inn

My hubby and I are coming to Charleston for 3 days, starting tomorrow, for a much needed getaway. This was a last minute thought so I have done no planning (not like me at all...HELP!)

We are staying at the Lodge Alley Inn located at 195 East Bay Street.

We would prefer not to use our vehicle or use as little as possible. From the reviews I have read, it looks like we are centrally located.

Can anyone suggest restaurants (with options other than seafood) or other sights we can do in this area?

We enjoy historic tours and like to visit old churches and homes.

We like to go to a local pub after dinner to get to know the locals. Any thoughts?

Thanks for your help!

There are tons of great restaurants within walking distance. FIG, SNOB, Magnolia, Anson, High Cotton, etc, etc. Practically everything except the plantations is within walking distance. When you check in they can give you a map.

Have you read over "Top Questions about Charleston" at the top right of this page?? That will give you lots of suggestions.

Few of the restaurants (any?) are "seafood" only. All will have seafood dishes (after all, we are on the ocean) but, will have other options as well.

Thank you! I did read over the Top Questions area but because I am not familiar with the lay of Charleston, I wasn't sure what was in walking distance.

We are looking forward to being there tomorrow!

You can go to Google maps and enter Lodge Alley Inn's address. You'll see a "search nearby" feature. If you type in "restaurants" you'll see a map that will help you locate restaurants.

I agree with endo's recs. For a pub try Griffon or Blind Tiger.

For tours and other downtown activities, check the Charleston Visitors Center website. http://www.charlestoncvb.com/visitors/tripplanner/what_to_see_do~3/

Depending on how much you like to walk, almost any good restaurant you'd like to visit would be walking distance from your hotel. The HD is pretty small. Even if you think the restaurant is a little beyond walking distance, take a rickshaw for a fun & quick ride.

I second these: The Griffon and Blind Tiger.

I'd also add Moe's Crosstown (not downtown!!).
