Lodging in Charleston SC

Greetings ~

We are visiting Charleston SC in early May of 2013. Is the historic district the most convenient location to book a hotel if we want to be centrally located to see historic attractions? We are interested in visiting a plantation, seeing the Citadel, walking the college campus etc. We will be busy "tourists" for 4 days.

Thank you for any suggestions.

The simplest answer to your question: YES. Book in the HD. It's the most central part of the city, especially for tourists. Except for a drive to the Citadel and a plantation visit, you won't need a car at all. Two things: we need more information (i.e., price point) for a hotel that suits your needs, and you need to read the "Top questions about Charleston" on the upper right hand side of your screen.

Also be aware that May is a very busy time! See the post "VERY busy weekends in May". You will need to book ASAP, hotel and restaurants.
