Charleston With Children

We will be spending 4 nights in Charleston over Spring Break. Our children are aged 9,11,&13. Just curious which plantation is the most intriguing and would be a fun experience for children and parents alike. Also looking for the best shopping in the Charleston area. Thanks much!!

Middleton usually appeals to kids more than the others. The downtown historic district (King Street) is loaded with great shopping. Are you staying downtown or elsewhere?

Middleton for sure. The kids will lveot he stableyard, where you see heritage breeds of animals, craftsmen in period clothing doing things like pottery and leatherwork. Our daughter even got to milk a cow!

The kids would also enjoy Ft. Moultrie on Sullivan's Island (dates back to 1776). You could do the fort in the morning, have lunch, then hit the beach.
