Fireworks July 4 2013 in charleston SC

Saw some older posts about this but did not know if the info is still current.

Where is a good spot to watch fireworks on July 4th in or near Charleston? I know Patriot's Point is supposed to be a good spot but I am wondering how in the world you can get there and where you would park if you did get there.

Any ideas???? Thanks.....

Any great viewing spot is going to have traffic issues. IOP does nice fireworks, but trying to leave afterwards is a mess. Same with Patriot's Point.

When you cross the Ravenel bridge from Charleston, bear to the right at the foot of the bridge, then follow the signs to Patriot's Point. Turn right at the first light. There's parking there and at Mt Pleasant Waterfront Park.

Waterfront Park benches to the right of the swings area

Behind the condos to the right of the Aquarium.

They are actually shot of the aircraft carrier. You get there by taking the first right after crossing the Ravenel Bridge on HWY 17. There's a ton of parking out that road to the pointe. Also there will be road side parking for miles . The traffic moves out prety well also when it's over. There are a lot of large hwys to ease the conjestion.

The Patriots Point fireworks are shot from a barge in the harbor. Go early because you'll compete with well over 25,000 people for those parking spots.

Also, the road into Patriot's Point does allow parking along the road, but it is not "miles long".

Traffic at Patriots Point is atrocious. I know because I'm sitting in it now (and have been for the last 30 minutes.)
