Where is the best place to do some line crabbing from shore? Is there a public dock or jetty?

You have me stumped. I love to crab but can't think of any public park where you could crab.

Before you crab, check the fishing regulations. You will need a fishing license with a saltwater stamp. There are also regulations on size etc.

You can crab from the dock at Brittlebank park downtown for free. You can also crab from the Mt. Pleasant pier but I believe you have to pay the daily fishing fee. I have caught a good many crabs off of the dock at Brittlebank Park.

I have also seen people fishin' and crabbing from the pier at Waterfront park. There is parking at Brittlebank Park so that is certainly an advantage in my eyes.

Thanks, JT! I forgot about Brittlebank Park. That is a great suggestion for crabbing.

Oh! Good news, KB. I always thought it was too expensive and kept people away.

Pitt Street Bridge or Shem Creek (both in Mount Pleasant) are good places to go crabbing. There is no fee for parking at these two places. You can also crab at Mount Pleasant Waterfront Park as someone else mentioned, but you do have to pay the fee for crabbing/fishing on the pier. There is no fee for parking here.

You don't need a license to crab if you are using 3 or fewer lines.

Crabbing on the beach is fun. Under Breach Inlet bridge is good, and there is parking on both sides. Also at the groins at State 32 on Sullivan's Island... you can park on street there.
