good eats in GT or on road fr. Myrtle Beach?

Our flight gets into Myrtle Beach around 10:30am. We'll be picking up a rental car and immediately set out for the drive to Charleston, where we spend several days. Thought we'd stop on the way for a walk around Georgetown Historic District.

We'll be hungry so we're looking for a recommendation for a casual non expensive (maybe southern cooking?) type place either in Georgetown or on the road from Myrtle Beach.

Also, if anyone wants to give input on some highlights to see in Georgetown if you only had a couple of hours to walk around.

We're also thinking of a stop at Hampton Plantation, time allowing. Then reach Chaleston by evening.

Georgetown is a neat little town, with most of the sites centered around Front Street. Our favorite lunch spot is River Room. Their lunch menu is very reasonable, and contains a number of Southern seafood specialities, such as shrimp & grits, gumbo, shrimp creole, and an excellent grouper sandwich. There's also Thomas Cafe, a Southern diner that's been around forever. They serve a "meat & three" lunch special, and their fried green tomatoes are popular. River Room is open until 2:30 for lunch. Thomas Cafe closes at 2:00.

Weather permitting, the RiverWalk behind the restaurants is a nice stroll. Front Street also has a number of small shops, local art galleries, and several small museums. The new SC Maritime Museum is open to visitors and well worth a visit. The last time we were at Hampton Plantation, there wasn't a lot to see there. As an option, I'd recommend considering Hopsewee Plantation, just a few miles from Hampton, and right along Hwy 17. http://www.hopsewee.com/

Both those lunch suggestions sound great!

Based on your advice about Hampton, I think we'll just walk around and explore the town after lunch, maybe go to the maritime museum. That will be more relaxing instead of trying to fit in everything.

Thanks for your help, Pawleys Dude.
