Palmetto Dunes - Hilton Head - What to do?

My wife and I are heading down to Hilton Island and staying at the Palmetto Dunes Resort with another couple.

My cousin and I have booked a few tee times for golf on the resort but other then that what else should be looking to experience while we are there.

Also, where is the best shopping on the island?

We are all in our mid to late 20's.

Any advice or help would be appreciated as this will be our first time on Hilton Head Island.

In no particular order

1 - Shelter cove across 278

2 - SeaPines

3 - The Village at Wexford - Pricey

4 - Pineland mall - especially Heritage jewelry

5 - Main street - north island

6- Coligny Plaza - south forest beach - mostly tacky touristy stuff

6 - Tanger one and Two - Off Island - discount Centers

The mall - don't bother

To do besides shopping, tennis, the Beach, Dining, boating, bicycling, and nature walking

Don't forget the Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn. There are daily tours on a variety of topics , as well as neat exhibits at the museum itself (both inside and out).

We booked a private 2 hr dolphin/tubing combo thru Live Oac. We're doing it this afternoon so I can't give a review for it yet, but it sounds wonderful!

The other activity we enjoy the most is bike riding. There are numerous places to rent bikes for the week. From Palmetto Dunes, you can ride over to Shelter Cove marina & there are several restaurants with live music, etc. This is a fun, relaxing thing to do. You can also ride on the beach. There are a few bars open to the public to stop at -- the Hilton, Dunes House (this is to the right of Marriott with white awning).

Enjoy!

The Dunes House is one of our favorites! This is a great oceanfront grill with full service bar. Perfect stop for a nice relaxing lunch, dinner or drink. Very casual and they also have indoor seating. We often stop when we're walking on the beach or bike riding.

Dont forget to visit Palmetto Dunes General Store, one of our favorite places to stop for an ice cold drink after biking over from Shelter Cove, just also read that they will be having a bbq this weekend. The front porch is a great place to hang out during a thunderstorm
