There is no beach in Mt. Pleasant.

Please look in the upper right hand corner of this page for most asked questions and you will find info about all the Charleston area beaches, which are Sullivans' (mostly residential), Folly, Isle of Palms, Kiawah and Seabrook (prices are pretty much $-$$$$ , KI & SI are pretty much the same).

Hotels on the beach are at a minimum in the Charleston area, most people rent houses, condos or villas.

Indeed. Closest beach to "downtown" Mt. P (the "Old Village" is Sullivan's Island, which has no hotels. However, 5 minutes from Sullivan's (and 5 min from Mt. P) is the Isle of Palms, which has a hotel and a "condo-style" hotel. Other than that, the Shem Creek Inn is on the water - but on a marina/waterway. The advantage is you're in the heart of the nightlife in Mt. P, the windows of your motel room will provide endless entertainment as the dolphins are very active in this waterway. I was there today and saw dolphins jumping clear out of the water (they're chasing shrimp). You won't be more than 20 feet from the water; probably 40 -100 feet from the dolphins. Then, drive a few minutes to the beach and you have a place to come back to for lunch and dinner and you're still under 10 minutes from Charleston.
