For my wife's 50th, I'm planning a surprise family reunion for July 2008. My wife recently mentioned she'd love to spend a week with her sisters (there are five of them) in a big oceanfront house. We've never been to Myrtle Beach (we're from AZ and usually spend our summer vacations on the beach in CA), but most of her family is from FL and NY, so I thought SC would be relatively easier to get to--and Myrtle Beach seems to have decent inventory of large beach homes for rental. Depending on who can make it, we may have 20 to 30 people including kids with a wide range of ages. I've read lots of posts here, but have the following three questions: (1) What advice would you give on location--what area of MB--to someone who's never been to Myrtle Beach for a large family reunion? (2) I understand it's hot, but I'd like a bit more info on weather--since I'm from AZ, hot doesn't mean much to me--is it hot and humid? Does it cool off at night? Do most of the homes have A/C and/or fans? Is it cooler by the beach? (3) Any suggestions on a realty company/realtor that knows the area--I've used vrbo.com before and it's a very useful site but given my lack of familiarity with the area and the size of my group, it may pay to have a quality realtor to help me. Thanks.
