Need advice on a day trip from Myrtle Beach

My family (pregnant wife, 1 year old daughter and parents in their 60s) are going to Myrlte Beach next week. We will have a car and are looking to make one day trip somewhere fun and relatively close by. Any suggestions? Thanks. Matt

Brookgreen Gardens & directly across the road is Huntington Beach State Park. Both are just a few miles south of Murrell's Inlet. If able to do a little more walking, a day trip to Georgetown is only about 45 minutes down 17. Historical points, riverwalk, old Rice Plantation boat rides etc.

A lot depends on what you are looking for.

One of the best suggestions is a trip to Brookgreen Gardens. Every visitor to the Grand Strand should visit Brookgreen at least once: http://www.brookgreen.org/

Further south is Georgetown, a wonderfully historic village: http://www.seaportgeorgetown.com/

If you could give us an idea of what you would like to do/ see, then we could perhaps make better suggestions. But no matter what, Brookgreen Gardens is a "must do."

Brookgreen is definitely a destination as noted above. Also, there's about 60 mini golf courses in MB. Shopping--outlets or Broadway at the beach and Barefoot Landing--hard to decide. And can I mention restaurants??? Broadway at the beach has a playground if I remember correctly. There's so much to do. Best suggestion is to stop by the visitor's center then decide what to do.

Brookgreen would be great, Huntington Beach Park, it depends on what you are looking to do, sight seeing, shopping, etc.
