Starting point for summer vacation help

Hi All! Just starting do some research for a vacation this summer. The vacation would be for myself & boyfriend who are 35 and his son who will be 6. Not sure if we want to do a condo or resort? Would like 2 bedrooms, pool, on the beach and close to attractions (boardwalk, rides etc.) Really need a starting point and suggestions on great accomodations. Also, what month in the summer would you suggest? Really not into Huge crowds so 4th of July weekend won't be when we go.

Thanks so much.

Why not a condo within a resort ? IMO Myrtle Beach is best done planning to drive to attractions. Everything is so spread out. If you stay in "central MB" you will be in a more congested area since that is where the younger set is most attracted. By going to a resort closer to the "north or south end" you will be most likely in a quieter area with more room to stretch out. We like to be on the south end near Surfside and a lot of people will consider only the north end. You will just have to make up your own mind according to your tastes. I will send you a PM with info on our resort as I am sure others will do also.

From one of my previous posts:

You might consider either The Sandy Beach Resort or Oceans One. Both have multi-bedroom condo-type units. They are located at 3rd Ave. South and S. Ocean Blvd. There is a convenience store and a beach shop across the street. The 2nd Ave. Pier is a short 2 block walk to the north. Family Kingdom Amusement Park is 1 block south and the Family Kingdom Water Park (only seaside water park in the area) is next door. There are ice cream parlors and pizza shops within a block on Ocean Blvd and a few restaurants on Hwy 17 within walking distance. McAdoo's Cafe is a beachfront bar/cafe next door too. There are banana rides, parasailing and sea doo rentals just 1 block south. We always stay at the Sandy Beach and love it. If you choose Sandy Beach be sure to book a room in the newer Palmetto Tower.

NMB is graet for families and there are numerous condo rental companies such as Elliott, Grand Strand, Condo World, CRS, etc.

Barefoot Landing is in NMB. Also the drive to Myrtle Beach is quick if you take 31, which exits at HIghway 22, Grissom Parkway and Route 501.

Mid-June is a good time to go as is August. I agree that a condo within a resort is a good option. The Caribbean is a good one to look at on-line. Also Dunes Village. Both have great water/pool facilities & plenty of families with kids.
